OK, just pickin' nit's....but the scroll bar color selection on this site (only in the forum section) has such light contrast between the background & the scroll button I can't see where I am. On any computer I use I am forced to use the arrows rather than slide the (invisable) scroll button. :roll:

Naturally this is much worse on my laptop than my regular computer but bad on both.
This is just a minor tweak in the html, hope you can adjust it.

That's it....my only dis-sat....otherwise I love this site. It is absolutly the best scanner site anywhere.

Show us a thread that you are having a problem on. The only scroll bar I have is what is in my browser.

It's the only one I know of too. Now if we could just convince people to not post things that make me scroll left and right.... :wink:

Use Firefox instead of IE. No more silly problems.
I'm sorry, I guess I don't understand how Firefox gives you a screen bigger than the screen format I have set.??? :shock:

Lou, I think nmfire10 was replying to the invisible scrollbar question. Since this is a browser function, some will be better than others. Shows up better on both Opera and Firefox than IE for me here.

Yup I use Firefox too. Best damn browser in the world with tons of extensions :D Hmm after making this reply I see what scroll bar he is talking about (I think). Make a reply and you will see the Topic Review at the bottom of the page. That is the only scroll bar that is not a part of the browser but part of the forum. Anyway the color on it is just fine for me and is the same as my browsers scroll bar.

I am refering to the verticle scroll bar on the right of (for instance) this page. For that matter any FORUM page.
Excuse me....it is NOT my browser...it is the color in the HTML of this page.
As stated in the first messade the issue ONLY happens in the FORUM section of THIS board. By changing themes in XP it is still too low contrast to see the bar position.

I really thought this was the proper forum to post about the admin properties WITHOUT being the reciepent of dimunitive remarks. :shock:

Guess I was wrong about that.

I DO know ,as I stated, it is in the HTML of the forum's formatting.

As I stated, the problem is that the contrast of the scroll "button" is so close to the scroll bar that I cannot see the difference on my laptop (LCD).

I actually can see it better if not in Full window, but it is a problem on my CRT monitors as well as my LCD monitor.

BTW, I have used Firefox. It is ok, but since I have about 8 computers & use some for business that is required to run IE I CHOOSE to run ie.

Excuse me for running IE, the answer is in the HTML.
BTW, I am not a computer novice, and I understand what I am talking about. In fact the contrast is a bit better fullscreen in ProCommPlus
but the majority of the world still runs IE so I hope the admin will answer
with a more friendly remark than run Opera or Firefox or Mac or Linux
or Numaris or Somarius or maybe just deal with it. :roll:

You mean this scroll bar that I can see just fine in both Firefox and IE?
edit: after reading over what everyone said and then reading what you just said I think you are getting upset over nothing. We was just telling you what works for us. Lighten up a bit :roll:

:oops: Yes you are correct, I guess I did overreact to the comments.

I really just want to see the scrollbar better without overrideing the colors on all web sites across the universe.

I am running IE 6.0 & XP Pro and the only thing that makes THIS ONE AND ONLY site ***FORUM AREA ONLY*** scrollbar readable is via overiding ALL colors via the IE accessability tab "Ignore Colors Specified By Web Sites".

I CHOOSE to not do that.

That way ALL sites are White background. I could also use a style sheet and see all web pages in the same boring style. I choose varity over boredom.

I think my point is this: I go to M A N Y sites all over the net, this ONE AREA (Forum area) of this ONE site has a contrast problem on several computers I have set up currently.

It was a minor issue for me, but I am 1 single IE user and I am sure there several others that have the same issue. The colors in question are in the FORUM section HTML.

I'll say that slower for those that think they are in the browser....
H T M L sets the page colors ect... unless overriden.

Nevermind! I can deal with it, what about others that have to deal with it and never speak up?

I'd have to agree, its a little hard to see (see attached screenshot). I'm believe it is only showing up in IE since it is one of microsoft's 'extensions' to the HTML specs.

In the screenshot the left scrollbar is from the forum and the right one is from RR main page.

edit:
If you do a view-source you can see where the scrollbar is assigned a different color:
Code:
/* General page style. The scroll bar colours only visible in IE5.5+ */
body {
	background-color: ;
	scrollbar-face-color: #DEE3E7;
	scrollbar-highlight-color: #FFFFFF;
	scrollbar-shadow-color: #DEE3E7;
	scrollbar-3dlight-color: #D1D7DC;
	scrollbar-arrow-color:  ;
	scrollbar-track-color: #EFEFEF;
	scrollbar-darkshadow-color: #98AAB1;
}

I think part of my problem is I run dual monitors and the one I view the web on is situated such that I view the scrollbar at an angle.
If I move over and look at the scrollbar direct I can kinda' see it.

It all boils down to this....Grandma' was right!!!! I'm going blind. :shock:

I also had a REAL problem with the BC246T UASD program....turns out Uniden dosn't think I should run anything other than 96DPI resolution.
I guess I am just getting a small taste of what it's like to REALLY be visually impaired. 8)

This monitor (the CRT I normally view the site on) has the contrast all the way up, & I like the brightness where it is (about 65).

When I move to the other monitor that I usually use for monitoring all my system stuff it is discernable.

All said & done it seems my main monitor is the problem.

Still, this is the only site I have a problem with, and I go all around the net, have for years.

Bottom line is I will just live with it or swap my monitors.
Still, the contrast is pretty weak for my eyes.

edit..
BTW: thanks for that screen shot. I was not saying they were the same,just not enough contrast.

BTW2: I can't see the contrast AT ALL on my IBM 600X laptop LCD, it's even worse than the CRT I use most times.

Sorry for the *****in before, I was just in a bad mood & it struck me wrong.

I had this this problem here an one some other forums. There are two ways to fix it:

1. Change the color scheme of the website
2. Use something other than IE which preserves the scroll bars.

rasputen246... i tried the magnify function in settings but it made things so difficult to read and , because i was only seeing part of a page, it was extremely frustrating....so i took the optometrist up on his advise after he explained that my eyes weren't as agile as they once were and that i could either buy a pair of glasses from him that would solve the problem or go to the drug tore and buy a pair of reading glasses that will uniformly magnify the monitor screen when i sit about 16 inches from it... works like a charm but makes me wonder what i will have to wear in five years....

Here is a way to only override the scrollbar colors:

Place this file somewhere on your computer (override.css or something like that):

Code:
body {
	scrollbar-face-color: #D4D0C8 ! important ;
	scrollbar-highlight-color: #ffffff ! important ;
	scrollbar-shadow-color: #808080 ! important ;
	scrollbar-3dlight-color: #D4D0C8 ! important ;
	scrollbar-arrow-color:  #000000 ! important ;
	scrollbar-track-color: #D4D0C8 ! important ;
	scrollbar-darkshadow-color: #404040 ! important ;
}

btw, im not 100% sure that those are the standard colors, all i did was to open a screenshot in photoshop and pull the colors..

Then go into the Tools-Options-Accessibility box and select 'Format document with my stylesheet' and put in the path to the file you just saved.

All this will override is the color of the scrollbar.

Edit: Not sure which versions of IE this works in other than IE 6..

Thank you very much ullbergm!!!!!!

That took me 45 seconds to do and it works. Now I can edit the colors to whatever colors I want and shut up!!!!.

I run IE 6.0 on everything, so no problem.

I'm pretty geeky, but not real deep into html lately.

Thanks again! :D
