I've heard nothing but praises for this antenna. One question: will I give up my loud and clear ~150 MHz reception if I go with it, or is better all-around than the stock antenna (BC246)?

Thanks,

Kevin

For me, I noted it worked halfway decent for VHF. But of course, I was only a few miles away from the transmitter. Its resonant at 800 MHz; that's what its designed for. It will work for VHF, definitely not as well as a tuned VHF duck. I would guess its probably no worse than the stock duck that comes with the radio.

I have one on my PRO-96 and use it for 800 MHz 99% of the time. The 1% of the time I use it for anything else, it works okay.

For VHF it's recpetion is marginal. It's probably comparable with the stock duckie for VHF. For UHF, it's a couple notches under the stock duckie I have found.

It's deaf to the world on air band.

It's just as good as the stock duck on VHF in my opinion. Since you greatly improve 800 MHz reception, you still come out way ahead.
