I have a RS 2046 100ch mobile. Every so often, whenever it gets real cold it'll dump all the info. Then I have to reprogram whatever I need. It's been doing this since 99, so I can live with it (although I'm thinking of retireing this to a base unit).

Does anybody have any ideas of what it could be? If I can be sure it won't take a "dump" on me, I'll use it as a secondary mobile just for VHF Lo band.

Thanks..................

memory dumps

Some model scanners in the past have used volital memory(like RAM) that uses a 3V lithium battery to keep the memory alive. The battery is usually soldered right to the pc board near where the memory resides. When some old lithium cells in scanners and other types of radios start to go bad this is one of the symptoms......dan

I thought I remembered something like a small bettery like a computer has. I may open her up to see what's inside. I'm pretty sure the warranty is up

Thanks...........
