• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hello,
I am new to this hobby. My questions revolve around the chronological order of programming in either mode (EDACS/Motorola). Please correct my order if wrong
1. The mode (edacs/motorola/FM) should be chosen first.
2. Frequencies enetered
3. Fleet Mapping (MOT). or shouldl #2/3 be reversed. Is it true the fleet mapping is only relevant for MOT1 (not required for MOT2/Hybrid?)
4. Rename IDs

Another question is for MOT1 programming. Several Fleet Maps are listed with Alpha-numerical values. How are these entered? Some are listed as double digits (space between a digit) so I presume the "delay key" inserts the space? ; i.e. 12 12 and the single digit entries. How do you know if you've selected the correct fleet map?

Thank you for your assistance......... Radunn

Umm... It really makes no difference what order you do things as long as one does not depend on the other. For example, since on the Pro-95, each frequency is marked as AM/FM/MO/ED you can put them in anytime with the appropriate mode. The scan bank (that is where you put the TG ID numbers) depends on the Scan Mode choice, so that should be done before you enter TG's. Remember, each frequency bank can only have one overall scan mode (CONV/EDACS/MOT) although you can mix conventional frequencies in the bank with the trunking frequencies and it will work just fine. As for Alpha Tags that go with the TG ID#'s, you can put them in anytime, but it makes it easier if you do the TG ID and the Alpha Tag for that TG at the same time.

I think you are confusing Fleet/SubFleet designations with Fleetmaps. They are two different things. The Fleetmap is how the system is set up and depends on a block of 8 values. You can see this fleetmap designation on any Mot Type I system here on the site. Since you didn't provide any location information for your profile, I will just pick a system to look at for an example. Lets use a mixed one as that will cover the most ground. Take a look at the Missouri City/Stafford (TX) system. The fleetmap is located near the top of the page, just under the system information. Along the top are the block numbers and under that are the fleet designations for that block. For example, block 0 is a Type II block (Mot 2) and should be entered as a S0 in your scanner. Block 3 is a Type I block (Mot Size D) which is a S4 as far as you are concerned. You should refer to the Owners Manual to find out how to set fleetmaps on the Pro-95.

Below the Fleeetmap, on the TRS page, you will see a block titled Miscellaneious Talkgroups. The first entry is a Type 1 subfleet. The first number "3" refers to the block from the fleetmap. The next two numbers "00" refer to the fleet and the "01" is the sub-fleet. You enter that into the Pro-95 (after you have set the fleetmap) in the Scan Bank Program Mode by entering "300.01" in the TG area then attaching the Alpha Tag. Once you set the fleetmap on the Pro-95 it will only accept the correct type of information for the specific block concerned. For example, you cannot put a Fleet/Subfleet TG ID in a Type II block and you cannot enter a Type II TG into a Type I designated block.

I hope that this is helpful. And again, welcome to the site. :D

I'm not sure if this has been asked before... But I am wondering is it poss. to have 2 diffrent systems on the same bank... i.e. one county's DTRS and then a Airport EDACS system freqs on the same bank like 6... ???

The answer in general is no. An EDACS system must be in LCN order as set by the system. This excludes any other trunking within the same bank set for EDACS.

However, if you program the CC's of a Mot system as Mot after the LCN, then change the bank to Mot, <PGM> <TRUNK> <MODE> and lockout the EDACS CC, you will be scanning the Mot system. Scanning open is the only way this will work.

Edit: Now and then during inactivity during Mot scanning, the EDACS will stop with ED displayed in the upper right corner but the broadcast is in FM because of the 5 beeps after clearing.

Computer programming makes setting up a scanner A LOT easier. I just wish ScanControl worked with the 95  . I use it to program my 2052 and love it!
