I recently paid $449.99 and took the receipt back and they gave me the diffrence back on the new sale price with out any problem.

Maybe you're confusing it with the BearCat - the Pro 96 has always been $499.99 so far as I can remember.

I just bought a Pro-2096 for $399.99. The Pro-96 was on sale for the same price. The sale ended Aug. 19. It seemed like a good deal to me, and so far I'm loving the radio!
