the cable required to interface the 796d is male /female rs232c, to clone 2 radios together they require a gender changer, my question is can I use a rs232c cable that has both male ends to clone or does this reverse all the pin arrangements?

You will need a Null-Modem adapter also!
If you get at RadioShack a 26-231 M-M DB9 Gender Changer and a 26-264 DB9 Null Modem adapter you will be all set :wink: . Between the 2 of those you can put the cables togeather and arrange the pins properly for the radios to clone each other.
