This afternoon something weird happened. I heard there was an accident or DMV on one of the ramps from Rt 440 to the Garden State Parkway over NJSP radio. Oddly enough I heard that Woodbridge handled it so the other NJSP units disregarded it. So are the ramps between 440 and the Parkway the jurisdiction of the local PD? That would be weird since both highways are handled by NJSP.

Rt # 55 is a major highway that runs through my area and several towns. I have heard on several occasions from NJSP that if the accident happens on the ramp it belongs to the locals regardless of the opposing highway.

or maybe Woodbridge just got to it first, handled it, then went on there way, I hear this/see it alot in my travels along the parkwya & rt80 were the locals get the call first and check it out and take care of the minor stuff

I used to work for Paterson NJ as a 911 Supervisor for 20 years and I can tell you Rt 80 Went through our Jurisdiction and we handled everything that was on an exit or entry ramp. State Police handled the roadway itself but locals handles ramps.

Thats goofy. But in this case I guess thats what happened, locals handled the ramp. Guess a lot of times the locals get there quicker anyway. I also know in Pennsylvania near Philadelphia that on I-95 and the other interstates state police patrol the highway, but local PDs are dispatched to all motor vehicle accidents and other incidents simply because they get there quicker despite the limited access. Thanks again, everyone.
While we're on the subject, is anyone aware of a scanner feed of the Perth Amboy/Woodbridge/Edison area? Funny I have to travel this way quite often on I-287/440 and it seems like there's always something going on. From south jersey I can get NJSP 5-comm that patrols the area but it would be so fun to hear the locals responding onto the highway.

Ramps in this area normally are locally covered (Woodbridge and Perth Amboy). I 287 ramps in Edison are usually handled by Edison PD. It often depends on who is first available (State Police dispatched from Somerville Station or the local yokels).

Many car parts and bodies were moved into the other guy's area...

2370,

I presume by "this area" you mean New Jersey state... in New York State coverage of the ramps coming off of or on to interstates, parkways, and other limited access roadways are the responsibility of the primary agency that covers the main roadway itself.

As this is posted in the NJ area, YUP. I can't speak for the other side of the Arthur Kill. Since these roadways and departments are within my operational area, this is just how 440 and SI approaches in central jersey are normally handled.
