RTL-SDR Milair band radio scanning

Hi I am trying to figure out how to set up my software defined radio to recieve UHF milair band would anyone know the steps and all used to recieve it well? I can't find much out there that goes into detail.

Is there an updated version of the post that Mancow made when they talked about scanning in 1.5 seconds it has changed sinceso I was wondering?
