hullo all radio-heads out there. I have 2 RTL-SDR's using sdr-trunk on Linux. seems to set up and program just fine, but no audio ever comes out. and most of the time status is IDLE when I can see strong signal on the monitored frequency. part of the issue is my county (Coffee) in TN has no frequencies assigned at all. So I am assuming two nearby sites are sharing?! anyway, any help would be appreciated. evidently all of TN has P25-II, so that's what I am using. NO radioreference account, so doing manual.

You'll probably want to turn off those channels in the playlist for now, and swap to the tuner tab and browse around 769-775 or so Mhz, and look for a steady constant signal. That will most likely be the control channel. Then, set up the Phase 1 to that frequency and restart it, and see if you get any control or trunking going on. You can only use the Phase 2 if the control channel is Phase 2, which only perhaps 2 documented systems have that configuration currently, or you want to monitor that traffic channel directly, but requires manual entry of the WACN / SYS / and CC values. Otherwise, just find a steady signal that never ends, and plant the phase 1 channel on that exact frequency.

that seems to have done it. odd that the control is P25-1 but the used channels mostly show up as P25-2, isn't is? thanks so much for your help, I was getting ready to toss the whole idea due to frustration. I still don't really understand most of this, but hopefully the manpage will evolve.

It isn't odd that the Phase 2 control is Phase 1, from others on here, just about all Phase 2 systems have a Phase 1 control channel. The Phase 2 control channels are rare to be found as said above.

Post pics of your tuners tab with show spectrum enabled. Idle means it’s not seeing, or getting a good lock on the control channel. If your gain is set to auto, turn that if and start around 327.

"tuners" tab doesn't show idle status, but enable status on both SDRs. "now playing" tab frequently shows one control and one idle status, but the latter changes when there is traffic. gain was earlier set to 327. system seems to be functioning pretty well right now. thanks.
