Delaware Upgrading

Found out what the updates will be it was in yesterdays State News.
Minner is trying to push a budget to add more sites,updating software,and radio's looks like this system is only going to get better over the next few years.

DE to Spend $19 Million for Upgrades

Hello,

According to an Editorial in today's edition of the News Journal, Gov. Minner proposed $19 million for system upgrades. Seems there will be some changes to the system. What will change?

There was discussion of the Fireboard/EMS having encryption capable portables. For $19 million, that's a lot of hardware and software. The system total cost since 1993 is about 80 Million. I wonder if 9600 Baud is next?

I have heard numerous fire department company's in sussex cty using enc every once in a while.

I'd be pretty surprised if they jumped to 9600 baud...would seem to be no real advantage. Since there are still some poorly served areas in the state, I would think that adding additional sites to the system would be the bulk of the upgrades. Curious to see what happens.

Thanks for the link....glad to see they are finally making a legitimate effort to fix the dead zones. Curious about the reference to "1989" era software in the radios, since the system was not purchased until a few years ago.
