About the same as any other transceiver, fairly slow. The zone settings let me keep scan lists smaller, so missing transmissions isn't much of a problem.

Radtel RT-880. It's good, interesting, and packed with a ton of features. Fantastic audio on AM in both civil and military airbands. Transceiver section with 18-64, 64-620, and 820-1000 MHz bands and a receiver section with LW, MW, SW, and FM bands. All fitting in your shirt pocket.
The wide receive range is great, especially with SSB capability. Hard to beat the price, too

I just don't get the wide TX range, though. This thing can put out a 10w signal on the VHF public safety and Federal bands, VHF Marine/Railroad bands, the UHF Federal UHF/UHF-T public safety bands, and the 800MHz public safety band. Plus, the 10m, 6m, 2m, 440 and 900MHz ham bands and GMRS.

It's probably not type-accepted for GMRS, Marine, or ham use, and no one in law enforcement would use one of these, at least not officially. Granted, it's not a powerhouse radio but it puts out enough of a signal where it can cause problems if used for nefarious purposes. Just thinking out loud here, don't mind me. :)
