I have the La Vergne/Smyrna analog and the P25 Middle TN Trunked Radio System programmed in to scanner but never seem to pick any transmissions up for them. Anyone in the area have any luck picking these transmissions up? I get Murfreesboro police and fire okay so something is working at least.

Smyrna is currently active on the TACN Smyrna site. Their primary dispatch channels are P25 Phase 1 FDMA digital and not encrypted. Recent upgrade to Smyrna PD has moved some of their back channels to P25 Phase 2 TDMA digital and encrypted.

La Vergne is currently active on the TACN Antioch site. Their primary dispatch channels are P25 Phase 2 TDMA digital and not encrypted. Their remaining channels are encrypted.

For La Vergne, be sure you are using a scanner that is capable of P25 Phase 2 TDMA digital, as some of the older digital scanners only work with P25 Phase 1 FDMA digital.

Eventually I expect the Smyrna site will be opened back up again to other users and La Vergne users as well. La Verge added more frequencies to that site and it was upgraded to also be Phase 2 TDMA capable. Right now the Smyrna site is not showing any other 700/800 TACN peer sites, and no longer carrying other state traffic like THP.

Thank you. I do have a P25 phase 2 scanner. Do you happen to know where the frequencies are at on here so I can look them up on Sentinel to add them to my scanner?
All the ones I currently added do not appear to work. Below are the ones I found here.

What you posted above are the talkgroups, not the frequencies you need. At the top of that page of the second picture you posted (TACN) are a list of sites and each site has multiple frequencies. You need to use the Smyrna site to hear Smyrna and the Antioch site to hear Lavergne.

I am sorry, but I am a bit new to the new scanners that use programming. When I add favorites to the Sentinel application, I do not see those frequencies when I select TN - Rutherford County (149) - Public Safety Talkgroups to add to favorites. That list is pretty much all it shows. The software is a little confusing because it is only showing the TGID and not the frequencies associated with them. I feel I am missing a piece of the puzzle somewhere.

I think I may have figured it out. It looks like in the Sentinel software has these as two different entries. One entry for the frequencies and another for the TGID and they do not appear to directly refer to one another by title. That might be what I was being told above, but it was not obvious using the software where or how they were linked together within the scanner. It still is not obvious to me how the scanner uses the two different entries to pull the transmission in, but at least I am seeing the police dispatch 1 for each now. Now to try and figure out how to get the other entries I want in there using this software. Thanks again t those who have replied and were patient with my questions.

Ya, the 'sites' with frequencies are after the talk group 'departments'. Those items are both oddly included in the same hierarchy level of the tree. For a trunking system you will need at least one site and one or more departments of talk groups active to scan. Make sure you have at least have the Antioch and Smyrna site included. The radio will scan any included sites for any included groups. Sites can be locked out and if you have location based scan enabled, that can impact the sites that are active.

For ease of use, I generally import the TACN sites and departments that I desire in to a dedicated favorites list.

IE example below with where Antioch site falls in relation to the other items in the tree...

83033

And from the system level department/site detail view...

83034

How do you just import specific departments or sites? The software always seems to pull everything in. It seems it should be easy to highlight and import individual site/departments but it seems to pull everything/all in to the favorite.

From the tree, you can right click and append or remove items. From the system list view, you can multi select and append or delete item. Either start with adding all, then remove what you dont want. Or start with just the couple sites and groups you may want.

For La Vergne & Smyrna, your best bet is just adding Antioch, Smyrna & Tiger Hill sites. I never miss any traffic county-wide
