• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Happend to turn on a CP200 this morning had fun hearing the death beep then a hissing noise. Now I have maybe a new paper weight. Anyways when I read the code plug I get error 2426 I can't find anything about this error. I know that the code plug is bad because its hissing that's a sign bit what's the error. It's an unusual one and can it be corrected by myself or is it taking a trip to the depot?

Thanks

Download the tool from MOL to fix the corrupted codeplug which is a known issue for the CP200.

I don't have access to my MOL right now but I believe the latest version is 5.16. What's the history on the radio?

Newer radio was used I'm actually doing this for a friend who has a pair of these. Happend to his radio never had problems before. Not last night it had squelch problems rand bursts of static. Battery was low so we put it on the charger. Woke this morning to a bonk tone.

Well if you can't recover it with the codeplug patch tool offered by Motorola you'll have to depot it or trash it.

5.07 is about 4 years old.
Time to upgrade.

If the recovery tool on MOL doesn't work, open a case on MOL and send it to the depot.

I have 5.16 haven't had time to install it. For the cost a moto ill just buy another one and use this one for parts.

Don't give up that easy. I'm sure it's still recoverable.

The latest is 5.17 which came out right around New Years. The only change from 5.16 is that they locked out 25 and 20 Mhz bandwidths. Without a special entitlement key, only 12.5 can be programmed.

That said, I had what I thought was a catastrophic failure with a CP200XLS. The radio would not do anything but beep at me, and the first read attempt resulted in an error. I pulled a known good codeplug from my archives and attempted to write it to the radio. CPS reported an error and then proceeded to fix the error and finally wrote a good codeplug into it. The radio then performed fine.

I have no way to know for sure, but it's possible that the latest versions of the software are capable of fixing problems like the OP is reporting especially with newer radios. Ours are about 12 months old.

Ill try it out. The latest I will use is 5.16. I'm not going thru the process of getting the wideband keys from big /\/\.

IIRC, 5.16 was the version that I was using when I had the failure with the CP200XLS. You should be OK. I can't guarantee that it will fix your problem, but if you have a known good codeplug for that model, you can certainly try to write it into the radio and see how it goes.
