Ryder Cup on Long Island

So the Ryder Cup is in Long Island in couple of weeks I would think there would be off the wall
activity radio wise? Trump will be there I think on the 26th should be interesting Local and Fed
wise? the article I viewed said 250,000 people attending...lets hope condx. improve (awful lately here)

Yep that's going to be pretty cool. The big day will be the 26th, Friday in the first round, however long The President is there.

I think at your QTH things are going to light up pretty good, the usuals.

I was sent out there about a week ago for work. Security was walking around with what looked like UHF portables. I haven't looked around for any activity yet but I'd be surprised if there wasn't a STA for the event.
There was a flurry of activity and machines moving items into place to setup for the event, even when I was there late on a Friday.

Yes there's a lot of prep that goes into this, they have to investigate threats who are documented. Keep track of a lot of people. Lot of air surveillance, mapping out alternate routes for different locations.

I was surprised to see that the NYSPP was involved and it hit me, Bethpage Park is run by the New York State parks.

No, He will be landing on the Golf Course that is next to the Black
Course. North Massapequa will have a engine at the other landing zone, which will be at the Polo Field manned by the the Nassau County Fire Marshal's office. The Village of Farmingdale FD will be in charge of Fire Protection. EMS staging will be on Central avenue just west of the picnic area entrance.

That's a good question. I am thinking maybe AF1 to LGA or ISP. Republic is too short for AF1.

Everybody equates AF-1 with the 747. While the 747 might be too large/heavy for Republic (the USAF has certain perimeters they require to take off/land), other smaller USAF might be used such as the 757. But point being, any USAF that POTUS is on is designated Air Force-1. Same goes for the USMC, Coast Guard and Navy. My guess is if POTUS comes to Republic, it will be on the smaller jet - then either a helo lift or motorcade to the golf course. Happy listening!

FYI - sources tell me for the Ryder Cup, Fire Dept's will be using U-Tac. Also keep ears on SCLERG 1 and 2.
