Basically an open-source WiNRaDiO.

Would be nice, especially for those who only run scanners as base stations. Everything should connect to a computer nowadays, the raw processing power is amazing. Too bad a lot of companies would rather engineer something specific, trouble-free, and cheap in the long run.

There are a lot of open source software projects and sites for WiNRADiO.

I have been waiting for this to happen. What better way to set up and control a radio. When I first read about these radios my thoughts were what a great scanner/receiver this would make. Uniden and GRE have been attempting to do this with dma and gui memories. To have a radio that scans like you really want it to, and to have firmware updates..........Wholey cow batman!

Let me know when someone has written a module to decode ProVoice. I became programming illiterate when I entered college as a computer science major and discovered that it wasn't quite as fun as chemistry was/is.

Don't stay tuned. Being a software defined radio, still doesn't make it legal.

It would be legal as long as you paid for the intellectual property you are using and only sell it under t6eh terms of the license you are granted.

It won't happen because the market is too small.

It won't happen because MACOM won't grant a license to re-sell.
