S.E. Weld Fire

S.E. Weld Fire district (Keenesburg, Roggen, Prospect Valley) is now using the Weld 800 system..still being paged on Fire A but using 800 fireground channels..I think Milliken Fire went live the other day too

it's the state system that Weld thinks is all theirs..for some reason they could get our channels but we're jumping through hoops just to get some of their channels.. requiring authorization letters etc.....ahh politics, got to love it!...sorry i'll get off that soapbox

Well part of it is theirs. Look up FCC data and sites within Weld County are licensed to Weld County.

Years ago the idea was for Weld to have their own trunked 800 system and subsequently they applied for and received licenses for it. Meanwhile Jeffco and Douglas were doing the same thing at the time when the idea for the statewide network came about and they along with Weld got on board for what eventually became what we know now as DTRS run by the CCNC.

[North Colorado and Arapahoe County on the other hand is a whole different story.]

So in a sense Weld does have a say in what happens since they hold the licenses for sites in Weld County. As the licensee they could (though not likely) deny access to anyone on those site frequencies if they so desire.

Licensees have some serious leverage if they decide to use it.
