Sure is great to see some new frequencies for Saskatchewan in the database. I was wondering about two things though.......the air frequencies that are listed are in FM. Should it not be in AM, or are these "special" frequencies? Also, can these frequencies be heard only in the northern areas of the province where the forest fire fighting takes place? And, who uses the VHF frequencies that are listed?

Hi Lawman,

I checked the S.N.R. Air frequencies and I see them all listed in AM mode. All frequencies that land in the VHF air band (108Mhz to 137Mhz) use AM mode. If you saw FM for those freqs, it has been corrected.

As far as hearing them goes, I dunno you might. It depends where you are in the province. I am in Regina "far away from forest" and where the floor noise is "up there", so I probably won't hear anything.

The VHF hi frequencies listed will be used by the various S.N.R. ground agencies. They will use FM mode.

Regards,
Richster.

Hi Folks,
I submitted the SNR freqs.

The usual Air freq's are indeed AM but there is extensive use of the 160 freq's for A-A and A-G when there are multiple fires going.

The repeater channels are not permanent, they are temporary ones usually setup at fire bases and camps.

Most AC that make use of the FM freq's are 10K' or lower so I doubt that you could hear then for more than a 100Km radius or so at max altitude.
