I ran across a video where the presenter was using a Hamgeek SA6 spectrum analyzer and it looked intriguing. I looked it up and at the site: https://www.hgeek.com/collections/spectrum-analyzers I found it currently for $122. On that same page they have a model SSA6G device for $139. From what I can gather they are outwardly identical but the SSA7G has Bluetooth to connect to an Android device.

While I do not and would not consider this a serious tool, it might be a fun toy to explore some of the local transmitter sites and for spectrum exploration. While I could do this with an SDR, this is entirely portable, making for easier field work.

I see that they are also available on Amazon and AliBaba etc. under various branding.

Has anyone played with one of these (or the various other brands of the same device)? Care to share your experiences with the masses?

I always consider any spectrum analyzer a serious tool over not having one. I have an SA6 but I do own some upscale better devices up to $5XXX range. It depends what you intend to do and accuracy. (Mines are usually GPSDO disciplined for better accuracy.) For spectrum exploration, it is useful but for a more focused exploration, an SDR radio is usually more useful (can listen to different modes and make use of PC capabilities. I keep both and SDR and spectrum analyzer in the car. Depending on what you do, you may not use it as often as you think, or you may consider it indispensable).
