Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Saber NMN6128B speaker mic PTT issues

So, I know these radios are beyond ancient, but I have a good size collection of Saber radios and all of them work 100%.

I have this NMN6128B ( coiled cord standard mic ) and no matter what radio I put it on, it has choppy / intermittent TX. The cord is in great shape but naturally the strain reliefs are all cracked / damaged.

Any ideas on what can cause intermittent PTT issues with this mic ? ( besides it being over 30 years old lmao )

( yes - I am using the correct Saber ( and not Astro Saber ) antenna nut on it too ).

Motorola PTT switches on those mikes are probably a round disk smaller than the size of a dime. They can get corrosion. There were /\/\ kits to replace the disk that include adhesive tape. I would open it up, check the resistance when pressing the button. Try de-oxit if you can get it between the disk and gold PCB foils. Other problems can be at the connection to the radio that can corrode, or in the base of the housing where contacts mate with chassis, or the battery plate itself is loose and making battery power interrupted.

Thanks for the reply !

I’ll try and open up the mic when I get out of work today. I do remember one of the gold contacts on the mic itself was a little bent. Not sure if that would have something to do with it.
