Sac City system problems?

Appears Sacramento City system went down for a while this afternoon, anybody have any info on what happened?

I noticed the same thing. We had just had a 10851 occur and I was going to talk to the City dispatcher. My Mot kept saying "Out of Range". Couldn't pull up a control channel on the scanner. Figured something was up.

They later went to the County TRS and used some Sheriff channels, specifically SD T1 and SD T2. They consolidated sectors to keep channel usage down, and put the kabash on self-initiated activity for a while. They were ONLY responding to calls for a while.

yes very weird......dangerious if you are on a 10851 and the radio dont work but i believe it was some type of test because it came back on for about 10 min dispatch told units it was going back down so im guessing it was a test (someone call FCC) ask them what the hell LOL

I'll almost guarantee it wasn't a test. It took them a while to come up on the Sheriff channels. They did a roll-call (standard practice), but I'm betting it took them a while to figure out how big the failure was, and come up with a solution. They probably just sent messages across the MDCs, but their system was down for at least 15-20 minutes before they came up on the SO tacs.

Did the system make it through the 5 alarm fire okay?

Oh yeah, I heard a lot of fire related traffic on the PD channels... setting up road blocks and such.
