A Sacramento Fsp driver told me today that they are going away from the county system and moving to cell phone use instead.

Well that sucks. With CHP being encrypted at least FSP traffic provides some heads up.

I'm wondering if it's a PTT over LTE solution, possibly even connected to the CRIS system. I believe they're doing a similar thing with the State Parks lifeguards - allows cheaper, non-public safety grade devices for users who don't necessarily need the public safety ruggedness.

I’m being told it’s because the STA and and the tow truck companies do not have the funds to purchase Apx radios to utilize on the Cris system.

I am definitely not sure about that but it was just a push to talk like old nextels were.

The FSP companies already have the phones and have issued them out. They’re just waiting for Chp Dispatch to be on it.
