alright, there's tons of abbreviations in the tg listings, so can we clearify them? pweez?

for SSD (sacramento sheriff department) theres:
CMMET
CNET
CRIPS
HIDA
NID
SIIB

in county services, theres
R T P
WM&R - waste management and recycling
HHS Pharmacy - obviously a pharmacy, but what is HHS?

in los rios theres:
CLETS

SacPD has,
EOD

City Services has,
EOC

Sac County Fire has
COMM (obviously communications, but what are they used for?)


lets work together to clarify these for those who don't know them.

R T P = Sac Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant (off Franklin Blvd in Elk Grove)

E O C = Emergency Operations Center

COMM = County Central Operator. If Fire also runs channels called that, I don't know what they're for. The County operator does after-hours animal control, roads, security, etc. dispatching. A clearinghouse for all things County.

CLETS = Cal Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (how we run records checks. basically would indicate a records channel)

I program scanners for District 6 deputies occasionally. This sounds like an acronym they would use. Good old SSD!

California Law Enforcement Multi-Agency Radio System.

CLETS (California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System

CLETS is an interesting system and provides quick and valuable information to California Law enforcement agencies. In the "old days", access to the system was made by the various law enforcement dispatch centers using a teletype machine. Here's a posting I found on the DOJ website concerning one of the men insturmental in it's development, and reference to the 3 main data bases the system uses.

Frederick N. Howser, 22nd Attorney General:
Born in Nebraska on April 11, 1905. Prior to being elected to Attorney General, he served two terms as Assembly member for the 71st District, then was appointed District Attorney for Los Angeles County. During his tenure as Attorney General, at the outbreak of the Korean War, Howser worked to step up efforts to improve communication between Washington and the West. CLETS (California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System) was evolved, providing over 700 enforcement and criminal justice agencies access to the computer files in the DOJ, DMV and the Nat'l Crime Information Center. He was married to Helen Sten, and had one son. Died April 26, 1987, in Orange County.

COMM Means Command on Sac City & Sac Metro Fire.

Actually "COM" means command on the Fire channels (FCOMA1). COMM as listed on the local government groups (COMM1, COMM2, COMM3, and COMM4) have nothing to do with Fire...they're the County Central operator.

I've heard LAR referenced several times during standoff situations.
The positioning of LAR units in relationship to cross fire. Possibly a long rifle
or sharp shooter ?? Just guessing..

RCCC/R3C (or "R tripple-C"): Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center
WET Center: Warren E. Thornton Youth Center (basically a juvenile hall, houses female wards of the court)
711 G: Sac Sheriff's headquarters, downtown

KPF - Known Persons File

Technically now it's known as Known Persons System (it used to be Files). I guess it's to distinguish from the days when they were actually physical files, before automation. They must've kept the F in the acronym for old time's sake or something.

But most people don't have any clue what it stands for, just about EVERYBODY simply calls it KPF.
