Sounds like they are now using 7280 for normal traffic. 56720 may become history.

This is wayyyyyyy early in the game folks. I wouldn't consider anything "history" for quite some time. They are still testing this system out.

The Frequencies On Site 1 & 2 Change T/o The Day

Has Anyone Noticed That The Frequencies On Site 1 & 2 Change Throughout The Day. Will This Be The Norm. Or Will There Be A Group Of Frequencies They Stick With?

Los Rios Community College District PD is doing radio checks on their new digital talkgroup: 7280.

Shortly after 3 PM the dispatcher made an announcement on analog TG 56720 for all units to "switch to the digital channel" at 1530 for radio checks.

On TGID 7280 I have heard digital with what sounds like occassional encryption.

I cheat... I use the actual radio equipment.

Once you confirm Talk Groups you can fill in the blanks.
That is what I did today (yesterday) The basic structure is 32 steps.

What channels, (or talkgroups), on the County TRS do these correspond to? I was just looking at the database and didn't see any channels labeled as T1-T6, or even Tac1-Tac6. Are these equivalent to Mode 11-16? Thanks.

Also, I just heard

I keep hearing analog traffic on TG 54192, sounds like law enforcement... anyone know who this might be?

I too have heard Sac SO on 61552, 61616, 62736.

I have also heard the digital noise on 7280.

Hearing SO detectives on 62864... using the "rule of 32", I think we can expect to hear tac channels 62800, 62832 as well.

Traffic on 57040 and 57232... doesn't sound like law enforcement though...

What I meant by "unconfirmed" is that those channels have not been patched with the old system. The line up does mirror the Talk Groups on the old site.

SD6 is Airport for both new/old systems.
SD T6 is the equivelant to channel 16 on the old system.

I used the label SD T6 because that is the TRUE label to that channel. That is what is displayed on the radio when switched to that Talk Group. The following table represents what is generically called channels 1-16 on the portable or car radios.

Here is what I've been able to snoop out, mixed in with what some others of you have reported... The enties marked "GUESS" are TG's assumed using the "rule of 32".

Has anyone heard what TG's Citrus Hts. PD will be using? Or Folsom PD?

I'll be interested to see if any new talkgroups show up in the 31xxx, 32xxx, 43xxx, or 44xxx ranges.

About a week ago just after 3 PM I heard the dispatcher announce on 56720 for all units to switch to the "digital channel" at 15:30. Ever since then they have been on 7280.

Heard a lot of ENC on that one yesterday. They signed on in the clear, but went to encryption shortly after. Wonder what's so secret that they need ENC on that TG?

So Ant, what equipment has been swapped out at the Comm Center? The new beeper sounds completely different.

Lots of radio checks as well. One channel was forcing units to do a check on portable and mobile. It's funny, because units get caught up in their calls...zoning out, whatever...every time the dispatcher calls a new unit they get the "Go ahead"...it's like they had no idea the whole radio check thing was going on.

Anyways, still have a lot of agencies that haven't made the conversion over. Still dunno when our radios go in.

As soon as I get ours done, I'll put the CHPD and EGPD up (unless someone gets them done before).

Nothing's been changed out since we're using desktop computer radio consoles. Minor software change have been done, which really isn't unusual. But yeah, the beeper is a bit more "muted". Not so piercing which is very nice!

The vast majority of the patrol portable radios have been reprogrammed. Very few of the new radios are floating around, they're slowly trickling in.

Today the trunked system had a bit of a hiccup, causing a very brief loss of communication on the radio consoles. That was the reason for dispatchers being on portable radio and doing radio checks. It occured just as I walked in the building and it was a bit nerve rattling for everyone. The hiccup was resolved and was an identified technical issue.

For the most part this whole radio transition has been pretty much invisible to the end user.
