I have a problem with the city system with channel 15 which is 868.1125 is a control channel, so should I take it out because I believe that I may be missing some transmissions. Please reply, thank you

City's "new" digital control channel: 868.8250
City's current control channels: 868.9000, 868.6625, 868.6375

If you want to monitor the current and active system, be sure to delete 868.8250

If you want to monitor the "new" digital system, which is being "tested", use only the 868.8250 control channel. You can use the CONTROL CHANNEL ONLY feature or by locking out the "active" control channels from the current working system ( 868.9000 , 868.6625 or 868.6375 )

Either way, you don't want to be listening to TWO control channels and you don't want to lock out or delete frequencies that are not being used as a control channel.

Clear as mud?

LOTS OF ACTIVITY ON THE SACRAMENTO CITY/COUNTY TRS !!!

Several radio service techs testing talk groups on both sites.

A lot of the time they would announce the talk group name ( SP 1, CHPD 1 etc ) and then do a test count.

If only I wasn't driving, I would have written down a lot of the TGIDs and the user. I did however save a lot of the TG as they became active.

Alright. The 785 was pulling duty as the mil air receiver for the airshow. Guess I better hook it back up to Unitrunker. If you get a chance, let us know what you can remember.

You mean you couldn't memorize them! Jeez, what kinda of dispatcher are you?! :)

"CHPD 1" eh? That's going to be an interesting one. Their own dispatch channel. Nice.

And speaking of dispatch, Elk Grove PD has hired 6 dispatchers. They want to hire 17 total. There are currently 11 people that have turned in applications (besides the 6 hired) they are considering for hire.

The word now, which changes with the direction of wind, is that SSD will maintain dispatch responsibilities through Sept 2006.

As of July 2006, EGPD officers will be EGPD officers, not SSD officers (county emps)

Are they just gonna throw the EGPD dispatchers up with you guys until then for training purposes? That's six months away and they've already hired 6 people.

Also, with regards to CH, the Chief told me they want to be online July 1st as well. Hear any news about them?

No clue - "we" are still fishing for info.

One thought we had, was that they'll be doing admin/training/development duties. Working on policies, training programs, form development, processes etc.

Got word this evening that EGPDians will be working out of their service center and HQ till their Comm Center is online in Sept. 2006. ( sept? mm hmmm right )

So no, they won't be at SSD Comm Center - Not that there's even enough room for them. I'm actually shocked that SSD will continue handling dispatch duties after EGPD officially splits. The relationship between the two agencies isnt' exactly "tight".

CHPD still actively hiring dispatchers - I know of a few people who have recently gotten callbacks for a 2nd interview. No solid info about CHPD at this point. I'm hearing that everything is on track. Time will tell.

..going encrypted on " infores" ?

infores?

For clarification, RT Officers are supplied by SSD and SPD peace officers. RT security officers are just that, security officers.

I highly doubt that RT Police will have "encrypted" radio traffic. Maybe digital, but not encrypted.

Yeah, if you ever listen to their channel, it's just about the most boring LE traffic you will ever hear. Most of it is just coordination for who's taking what calls, and running ID checks for the fare inspectors. Other than that, there's not really much going on.

Talking to a County radio tech, it sounds like everything will happen at the same time:

digital implementation
switch to the new 800mhz frequencies (aka rebanding)
smartzone

SO, you'll need a trunking scanner that will work with the rebanded systems. Which means that a lot of the older trunking scanners won't work, including some which do digital (according to the many, many, many threads and wiki entries). You'll have to look around for your particular scanner.

i think the main thing people should do during/after the switch is *wait*. wait to see what scanners will work, what to see what won't work, wait to see what channels are going digital, and who knows if the system will even work, they may find that something isn't working right, and they'll switch back to analog (VERY unlikely, but crazier things have happened!)
