Roln - don't know if you saw it, but antfreq had the following to say on 4/4/06:

It looks like half the freqs are not being used for the "old" County TRS site.
I can only assume they've "moved" to the "new" hybrid site.
If that's the case, I guess that could cause a lot of your busy tones.

I remember him saying that. I haven't been running Unitrunker, so I can't verify what he said. It seems the problems go beyond that, but fewer freqs would definitely cause at least some of the issues (to wit - busy tones).

Right now, the County TRS (old system, not new) seems to be hurting. We're getting LOTS of busy tones, key-ups that don't transmit, digital sounding/garbled audio.

It was at the point for a little while that it was almost unusable. Trying to call in a vehicle stop took me almost a minute to get keyed up and say what I wanted. Try to keep up 5+ times...gets a little old.

Not sure if we're short on freqs, or if hardware problems. Haven't been running Unitrunker recently.

i've also noticed a lot of bleedover on transmissions on the old county trs system as well.

Like wise on my end.

With the demonstrations Downtown today, the City TRS definitely maintained operations as far as I heard.

(At least temporarily) everyone will need to lockout 868.6375 from the old City TRS (system 4428). It's currently (4-11-06 0345) being used as the CC on the new system, Site 1. I'm running Unitrunker on it and will report anything interesting.

yes, I also noticed that 868.63750 is for the new systen and I noticed that on 4-10-06 at 0130 hours and my question is I know I should lock it out but what should I do now, keep locking the future system CC out?

Thanks for the tip. Locked out the freq. and things are running smooth.

Within the hour, another pursuit and footbail in District 4, Zone 3. Northrop/Dornajo area and all 3 caught.

From I got out of it, that it was either a 211 or a 215 with a realistic "toy" gun used in the commission of the crime, found in the back seat. CSI on scene. A new thread made on the call by a local RR member.

So to confirm, are the only currently valid control channel freqs for Sac City system:
868.9000
868.6625

I believe that to be correct. .6625 is currently up, and I don't remember .9000 having been a CC on the new system.

Just out of curiosity, why do you have to lockout those control channels on newer scanners, but not older ones like my BC245? I haven't locked out anything on either system and as far as I can tell, I'm not missing any transmissions.

RE: Site 001

Heard lots of activity on TGID 45072
Regional Transit radio transmissions. Appears to be the buses.

Hey everyone. WIth all the changing of the control channels, I just deleted them all and started over again. For me that's easier to figure out whats going to be new and old.

Right now, for 4328 is using 868.9625.
116H #1 is 868.6375 I think this was an old 4428 CC
116H #2 is 868.7375 I think this was an old 4328 CC
4428 is 868.6625 earlier it was 868.900.

45072 is a RT talkgroup being used simultaniously on site #1 and site #2.

Check out the Sac County and City databases. They just did an update to them this morning and I think they've got the most recent control channel information.

Also, just as a side note, depending on your scanner, you may not have to lock out any control channels. I have an old BC245 and haven't locked out any control channels and as far as I can tell, I'm not missing anything. It seems you only need to lock out some of the new system control channels on "newer" scanners, but I don't know which scanners those are.

I'm no expert at this stuff, but it seems to me that right now, (10 AM on Friday 4/14/06), the Sac County TRS is using 868.7375 as a control channel. This frequency is not currently listed as being part of the Sac County system, (sysid 4328), at this time.

It's listed on the new hybrid analog/digital (sysid C116) system as a control channel for site 2. This appears to be incorrect, at least at this time. Maybe that's part of your problem? Do you have 868.7375 programmed? I think maybe 868.7375 got "moved" to the new system database prematurely, or the radio techs are moving freqs back and forth between the two systems.

This could be one of those rare moments where having an older scanner like mine is a blessing as I haven't had to lock out or remove any freqs and things seems to be trucking along.

I know there are people on here who are way more knowledgeable than me on this though, maybe they can advise.

P.S. By the time I finished typing this message, it looks like the County CC moved to 868.9625.

Hearing radio testing on the current City TRS over Sac PD's CAT (TGID 2864). The radio is in the northern part of Sacramento and the signal is weak as the Tech said. Reading about a 3 or 4 on the 10 scale.

Hi. I also have the same issue on my Uniden BC895XLT. It seems to go dead for part of the day or night.

When it works, it is good and strong. On my scanner, in trunk mode, I never have to lock out channels. Only if I were to do a regualr scan. Maybe someone will be able to explain the silent time we're getting.
