Just wondering if anyone has found out what freq the safety service units are using in the Richmond Metro area, it seems this time VDOT is actually doing the work and not URS. The trucks seem to have both UHF and Low Band antennas on the drivers side of the arrow board rack. I didnt see the inside of the truck to see what type of radio they were using but I see no STARS antenna rig on the trucks. Any help will work. Thanks, Jeff

I take it that you've monitored the VSP STARS talkgroups and haven't heard them? The safety patrols around Fredericksburg are on the VSP Culpeper 1 talkgroup.

I work them in Hampton Roads and we use low band and nextels but they said we will just stay on low band after nextels direct connect goes away. Richmond also uses low band but UHF is tolls and tunnels.

They're on the Commtronics UHF LTR system, as well as low band. I just installed the radios for them, so I'm quite certain!!
