SAGINAW -- Michigan State Police Command Center in Lansing confirms a Trooper was shot and injured during an exchange of gunfire with a suspect during a traffic stop in Saginaw early this morning. It happened shortly after 2am after troopers stopped the suspect's vehicle at the intersection of Fulton and Bagley.
The suspect left his vehicle after being stopped and started firing his weapon at Troopers who returned fire. The suspect is dead, and the Michigan State Trooper is injured. NBC25 is working to confirm the extent of his injuries.
NBC25 has learned the Trooper has been taken to St. Mary's hospital and is expected to recover from his injuries.
