This has been an ongoing issue in Salem for many many years.

Units will be inside and they won't receive a transmission. Had an officer struggling with a subject in a bathroom a few months ago, it wasn't until patrons heard him fighting and called 911 before dispatch knew there was an issue. She couldn't get him on the radio, and he couldn't get her.

SALEM, Ore. — Salem police began noticing the problem last summer. Spotty radio reception inside of some buildings made their handheld radios unreliable tools.

Salem is not the only area I know there they use two systems. Riverside County CA has, and still does have, a conventinal radio system for fire depts, and a TRS for the sheriff.

Salem even has TWO trunked towers with Keizer Police and DPW talking on the B Tower.

Would love to see how this shapes up, maybe it'll evolve into a countywide TRS because everybody else has VHF in Marion County.

I know this because I often visit my uncle who lives in West Salem.
