same frequency's in different systems???

Hi, I am located in chesterfield county. I was searching for control channels for different trs and I have a question. I was able to p/u Va. Beach and othere localities. The problem is when a talk group stops on frequencies like 856.7125 it is CC for Hanover county, and all I get is CC data. What can be done if anything if you want to listen to the system further away? This is just 1 example. Thanks,

Hi,

My experience is only with the Radio Shack/GRE scanners so if you have a Uniden I apologize as this information will not do you much good.

Make sure that when you program the scanner the bank is in Motorola mode and that the frequency is entered in Motorola mode. The Hanover c/c as you know is an EDACS system so you want to put that bank in EDACS mode as well as entering the frequency in EDACS mode.

The scanner programming programs (like Don Starr's stuff or the commercially available products for Unidens) really help out when programming the scanner. www.starrsoft.com is Don's site.

If you have a Radio Shack Scanner I can send you some pre configured files for the scanner you have (I own several models of the Radio Shack/GRE scanners). I live in Tidewater and travel to the Metro Richmond area on a regular basis for work. I travel both I-64 and 460 so I pretty much have the area covered.

Hi, thanks for the responses. I have a Uniden BC796D. What I mostly do is listen to the Chesterfiield,Richmond, Henrico system.

The way I have the va beach and chesterfield systems programmed is by using the CC only feature. So if I want to block out the hanover system i'm assuming i have to enter all frequencies in system as MotII and take it off of control channel only mode.

I would keep it in CC only as you have, and LOut the 4 VB CC's until you're on the road towards the Beach and out of Hanovers range.

Two, maybe three pennies worth.
