Going to visit San Antonio in a few months, therefore, wondering what I might be able to receive on my PSR-500 or PRO-96. Since the City of San Antonino is Provoice and I do not know about Bexar County, I am wondering if taking my scanner is any use.

Thank you.

San Antonio

Just returned a couple of weeks ago. My answer is save the frustration. In some trips away from the city, I was able to hear other systems, but San Antonio and the military bases were wasted effort. I have a Pro 106 and Pro 107, both of which were mostly extra weight in my carry on. I also had ham coverage on 2 meter, 222 mhz, and 440 mhz. These were equally useless do to the terrain and the valley I was in. I was less than ten miles from the airport and couldn't pick up the tower on normal aircraft frequencies due to the terrain.

You will not hear San Antonio or Bexar county however you can hear other agencies. The adjoining counties also are quite active.

For Mil, in addition to the trunked systems try 34.20, 36.90, 134.00, 226.300 and 138-144 / 148-150.55 which are very active most days.
