Does anyone know the status of rebanding efforts for San Antonio area public safety systems? Specifically the Bexar County/SA and Live Oak EDACS systems.

Seems to me that this is going to be a major undertaking for San Antonio, and I've noticed they've filed extension requests. However the last update that I saw was they would extend to September 2008.

Anyone know any specific plans?

It sure would be cool if they moved to MA/COMs P25 IP based network as well during the switch... we can only hope I suppose ;-)

There was a thread a few months ago stating that the Live Oak system was going to start re-banding, though there was never any date certain given.

It'd be neat if they used P25 during the switch. I don't know if you were here in SA at the time, but at least 5 or 6 years ago they were either installing the ProVoice system or they were updating it(don't remember, I wasn't interested in this stuff back then), but for about a week or so, all the officers were without radio communications and they had to resort to using their cellphones to get through their shifts. Hopefully they'd be a little bit more prepared this time around.

As far as I know, P25 will not be used in the LO system. Most of the portable radios being used are still the LPE-200 and doubt it will support this protocol.

DavidBond21: not to hiijack the thread, but how is your pro95 setup to monitor the LO system? I would actualy like to block Converse from my scanner, or place that in a separate bank.
