OK, I'm thoroughly confused.
I have VIA P25 trunked systems on my SDS100. In addition, I still have the "old" EDACS system on my SDS100.
I also have a BCD996XT with the P25 trunked system programmed. I also still have the old EDACS systems on this radio.
The only thing that seems fairly consistent with reception is my BCD996XT with the old EDACS system running. It receives transmissions and tracks conversations. This is programmed as an EDACS system.
My SDS100 on P25 doesn't hear some of the same conversations that the BCD996XT EDACS hears.
I understood when RR took down the EDACS site information that EDACS had been decomissioned. (The EDACS system operates on the same frequencies as P25 although uses fewer.) How can I track EDACS if it has been taken down? They couldn't coexist on the same frequencies but I guess the admin could have dedicated some channels to keep EDACS going and others for only P25. I am sure they probably have a mix of radios on their systems so their is still some transition?
If you are still reading this then this might be relevant:
EDACS on BCD996XT:
(This radio does not support P25P2 I don't believe)
SYSTEM TYPE: EDACS narrow/wide
SITE TYPE Medical Center EDACS standard/wide ...six channels programmed
SITE TYPE Lions EDACS standard/wide ...control channel only checked...six channels programmed
The radio ID reported on the scanner match the bus numbers used when reported by voice and are the actual bus numbers I believe.
In any event, this leads me to believe it is decoding the information correctly.
Could it be this system is not deactivated and somehow mixed with the P25p2 system? I just can't find a consistent pattern except the EDACS on the BCD996XT seems to track fixed routes talk groups just fine. I ocassionally just hear a digital transmission so maybe it isn't always decoding but this is rare.
Any smart people in the room?
Thanks!
