San Antonio - What's available

Driving down to SAT For thanksgiving. I am wondering what is available to monitor in Analog Motorola II or IIi EDACS-Normal and LTR? What did SAT do with the Old PD Type I system? is Bexar County Water Dept. TRS bussy with SO traffic? Should I Program the AMR LTR system? What is SAT Airport using? are Hamilton, Blanco & Comal Counties Completely Digital? what is the Primary DPS Frequency and PL tone for Northern Bexar Co.?

I will be in the area of Blanco and Wurzbach and Wurzbach and I-10 (Where ever that darn Motel-6 is)

I'm driving with the Pro-2067 only. so Just trying to figure out how to program it for SAT Metro area. I am doing that God Awesome drive down 281 from Dallas through Johnson and Erath Counties then south to 1604.

I'd appriciate anything ya'all have!

Max, if you message me i can dump some frequency files on ya.

unfortunately, it's all in ARC250 format, but you can export them to text and import them to your PRO96 or whatever you are going to use.

by and large, San Antonio and the surrounding area still have:

1) independent cities and townships that still use VHF/UHF repeaters for PD/FD response
2) DPS
3) local military base(s) UHF Motorola Smartzone Trunked systems
4) AMR LTR Trunked system and Bexar County Fire Alarm (Fire Response for Bexar County)
5) Feds
6) LCRA 900Mhz Trunked System
7) Texas Towing Regular LTR

there are various other trunked systems, but don't really pertain to Public Safety - Martin Marietta, San Antonio Water System, Time Warner, and a whole *bunch* of LTR's with different users on them.

if you have 2 scanners, i would suggest plopping the LTR input frequencies into one and hitting SCAN, as you never know who can show up on those (a local news helicopter crew is on the LTR Passport system, as well as Metro Ambulance and some other strange ones - like repo men!)

so as you can see, there's still PLENTY to listen to in San Antonio, and i can't wait until the Uniden "RF Counter", er, 246T comes out to see what else lurks...

I was down to SAT back in Oct 03. You sent me a BUNCH of Files which I still have. I was curious on the AMR LTR is that the Primary EMS for Greater San Antonio? or does San Antonio Fire run most of the EMS/Medical for the city?

The other was the Bexar Co. water Motorola System. is it even worth programming in?

Yes, I will be dual scanner equipt. the Pro-2067 Mobile and a Pro-94 HT. the 2067 will do LTR. the 94 Motorola and Conventional But both in Analog only. and I can't recieve LCRA in it's narrow band format "WAH!" My LCD Display is shot on the 780XLT. so it's a long ride with Radio Shack/GRE/Maxon I believe!

think of it this way:

1) City of San Antonio is pretty much ProVoice

2) County of Bexar uses AMR and Bexar County Fire Alarm to respond to emergencies, however, the Sheriff is ProVoice...

BCMWD - i haven't heard anything on them other than water operations since the SO vacated the system in favor of their new ProVoice talkgroups...

here's how ironic the situation is: i live outside of City of San Antonio, and i was driving home on Halloween night after spending the evening at my sister's with the kids...as i turned into my neighborhood i saw what looked like a midnight parade of fire trucks and ambulances! first thing i though was "OH MAN - and i can't listen to ANY of it!"

well, turns out everyone at the scene was on a scannable frequency:

1) AMR ambulance service
2) Helotes Police Department (dispatched off Leon Valley repeater)
3) Grey Forest Fire and Rescue

so the moral of the story is to always LISTEN - even if you think there's nothing left in this town...

once again, the most active analog frequencies here in SA after the PV move are:

1) Bexar County Fire Alarm
2) AMR
3) small-town PDs (Leon Valley, Hollywood Park, Castle Hills, etc)
4) Live Oak analog EDACS TRS
5) DPS

Too Bad Hooters dosn't have an EDACS PV radio on stand-by. seems we will be spending alot of time there wensday night. Maybe SAPD will come in and be so distracted by the Ladies he'll not feal his radio slipped out of his holster and Deciphered while he watches a pair of "Hooters" serve his Cheesecake to him.........Hum.......
