San Bernardino County Fire to discontinue patching to VHF

An internal email was sent to the department stating that on or before June 1, 2010 full-time patching from 800mhz talkgroups into VHF will discontinue. Some type of "grant funded" narrow-band repeaters are being installed (some already on the air) at various mountain tops in the County. These are designated "County 1" 151.145 narrowband VHF, "County 2" 159.120 narrowband, "County 3" 151.1525 narrowband (new freq.), "County 4" 155.100 narrow (new freq.)
Multiple sites/tones per freq like CalFire.
Their dispatch will monitor 24/7, however, will only patch to 800mhz based on incident need / field request.
Regional assignments are - Valley = Co 1, Mountains = Co 2, Desert/I-15 corridor = Co 3, yucca/Hwy 62 corridor = Co 4.

Didn't SBCoFD switch everything over to the D-Fire channels in the 800's non trunked areas awhile ago? When we run into SBCo we go from D-Fire-4 to D-Fire-1 depending where we are at.

The D-Fire conventional 800 will remain unchanged. These new freqs (151.1525) will exist as stand-alone repeaters that Comm Center will monitor. They say the sites on El Paso Pk and Trona are now on line. No one uses them yet. I suppose KRN could use them instead of the D-Fire freqs.

SBCoFD uses the D-Fire for Trona and the North Couty area. A lttle too far out to get the trunked system. When we do roll with SBCoFD Comm Center will use White 3 for the Tac since they can't get a Tac TG. Most of the desert station that run into SBCo have SBCo 800 HT radio.
