Just looking at San Bernardino County to see what kind of systems it has. I noticed there are like 12 or so different "systems" for the county, some of which haven't been updated since 2004. Comparing talkgroups, it seems that this is actually just one big system spread out over many towers. Do users have the ability to move to different towers? If so, why isn't this under one main system w/ many towers listed (like the Oklahoma DPS Smartzone, for example)? It seems like it would be a lot easier to see. Are the system numbers actually tower numbers?

You're thinking of SmartZone, which San Berdoo does not use. Each system is independent of the other. Many talkgroups carry the same traffic across multiple systems but are just using standard patching techniques.

I can only see it as a cost issue. They probably won't change until rebanding, since they'll have to then.

I'll bet their fixed-end equipment is ancient stuff.

Hasn't SB been trunked since like the mid 90s? I do notice Barstow PD often shows up on System 8 but their main is System 2.
