A memo was sent out today to Police personnel to saying that the County would be rebanding their Spectra radios beginning today.

That means that the the radios will be replaced with rebandable radios. The actual frequency change will be done later. Spectras cannot be rebanded, so they have to be replaced.

They've been moving around to different agencies for the past month. Nothing should change until literally everyone is upgraded. Then I think its just an over the air change, probably at midnight when the control channel usually changes haha! The next morning may be suddenly quiet!

This isn't going to happen anytime soon. From a source, they - like most of Region 4, are waiting for the feds to work out the cross-border stuff with Mexico. No frequencies have been granted, no new base station infrastructure equipment has been installed.

A big project at the moment is a console upgrade program that's currently being installed and tested.

The city recently went to the "New World" CAD system. They are having problems. Units are falling off CAD. Retrieving information isn't as easy as the last system. But then again, it may be a learning curve.
