Hi folks,

I've perused the forums and DB and can't quite put all the pieces together in my brain! I'd like to use my RS PRO 2055 while I'm driving from San Marcos up to a cabin I have access to in Arrowbear. I'm primarily interested in monitoring local public safety (CHP, SBCo SO & FD, Air/Ground EMS) when I'm driving through/in the area. Can you helpful folks point me in the right direction? I'm going to take a stab at it but I will refine/correct my programming based on feedback here. Thanks a bunch!!

Thanks scannerface & brandon. I did have some good success with system 8 and CHP SB. I heard quite a bit of traffic on a busy Saturday. I'll definitely take your input into consideration when I do a much needed re-org very soon!

A couple higher priority calls I heard were a search for a motorcycle over the side of 330 involving 40-King (SBSO air?), SBSO, CHP, & SBCo Fire. They ended up being unable to locate. Also heard a rather ugly sounding "ATV accident" where Mercy-Air 22 was called in to transport an amputation victim to Loma Linda.

CHP Arrowhead and SBSO actually work together quite often in the San Bernardino mountain areas. I have heard many times when SBSO had very extended response times to their calls and requested CHP to respond units. There are also many traffic accidents where SBSO arrives on scene first to help clear the traffic hazard while waiting for CHP to arrive and handle the paperwork.

The San Bernardino and Rancho Cucamonga CHP offices also recieve aid from SBSO's helicopters (40-King) on a regular basis. The Inland CHP Communications Center has a radio on the county's 6-40King talkgroup where they can request assistance from 40-King.

A little OT, but I usually monitor CHP on one scanner and SBSO on another, so I often hear traffic for both agencies regarding the same incidents. I have noticed that information given by a CHP officer to his dispatcher that is to be passed along SBSO usually happens fairly quickly, and I hear the info being broadcast on the SBSO channel in a couple minutes. However when an SBSO deputy wants information given to CHP units through his dispatch, it seems to take quite a bit longer. It is not uncommon to hear the SBSO dispatcher say, "CHP's been advised," and then nearly ten minutes later hear the info on the CHP channel. And then on some occasions key details of the info are wrong! I wonder why that is...

It's not uncommon to hear CHP Arrowhead talking on SBSO 8-Mountain-1 with Big Bear or Twin Peaks deputies.
