Is San Carlos PD being dispatched on the San Mateo County Sheriff trunking system?

I believe so. Isn't San Carlos a Sheriff contract city now?

Yes, they contracted out last year. Just recently I noticed no SCPD chatter on 488.4875, and see a note on RR that referecned San Mateo County Sheriff. So I was wondering if they are on a separate talk group?

They don't have their own talkgroup. They are dispatched on the regular Sheriff ones. I would assume the bayside one.

When the Sheriff took over LE services in San Carlos on November 1st, 2010, they used the shared San Carlos/Belmont frequency and the dispatching continued by Menlo Park under a previously arranged contract with San Carlos. When that dispatching contract expired on November 1st, 2011 the Sheriff put their San Carlos Bureau on their county digital network. As a result Belmont now has their own frequency.

San Carlos is on SO Patrol Primary, the Bayside talk group. I think the TG is 13840.
