There are less in this list compared to when you upload from the DB to your scanner. There are no more than 4 freq's ( 1 red/3 blue) versus about 7 or 8 that are in the sites being uploaded in the Sentinel. The above list doesn't show the reds or the blues but I hope you see what I am talking about. This is pertaining to the NextGen of course

I'm not really understanding what you are saying. The 200 (and most other trunking scanners) only need the control channels of a systems site to operate properly. The other frequencies, listed for reference in RR are used, but are not necessary to program in the scanner as the scanner takes care of tuning itself to the proper frequency depending on what the control channel tells it. You can program in all those other frequencies, but you are not going to hear anything more with them, unless of course you are choosing a different site or system than you originally programmed.

OK...disregard. All I am saying is that if someone is going to scan via zip code it will load up lots of alternates not just the control channel. That is prob why it will take so long to scan. Just trying to help clean up the list for San Diego

If you are listening from Ramona, you are most likely out of range of any sites in Imperial county. I wouldn't expect to hear ICSO on the San Diego sites.

Thank you Joey, I am hearing ICSO at certain times in the East Site, TG 2467. I have a HP2 and going to take a tour tomorrow into Imperial County and see what I can hear. I live in a HOA (big mistake) east of Ramona. I have an antenna rigged inside my office with a Jim M75 and a SDS200 and works pretty good. I am working on getting a set up in my attic but got two bad knees.

Joey & Jim, I lived in the Scripps Ranch Area and I have the same issue of picking up Northcom and Cal Fire on the Nextgen System. I have a TRX-1... Any suggestion or do I need to obtain a new antenna (if so any recommendation)?

I have a old Antenna Specialist wide band antenna in my office on top of some cabinets and a Jim M75 Pre Amp with my SDS200. You should be able to hear the West site as I have heard CalFire and Northcom on that site. I live in an HOA and cannot mount an antenna outside of any kind. I am working on getting an Diamond Super Discone Antenna up in my attic that I got from ScannerMaster. In Ramona, I am only receiving the West and East sites currently.

For voice quality the NextGen sounds great (at least with the right radio)! For picking it up it seems more finicky than the old RCS at least from my perspective. If you are relying on the attached antenna to the radio expect not so stellar results. Its always best with external antenna, and of course, since this is simulcast reception, your only half-way reliable options are the SDS100/200 for scanners. You can get away with some of the older scanners if you manage to get an external antenna in just the right spot. If you can afford it I wouldn't hesitate to go the Unication route at this point. Glad I did.

Ensure you have all service types checked ON for receive...the SDS's ship with only like Law and Fire Dispatch seervice types checked for receive. It should be in the main menu, just activate all of them?

Paul
Took me 2 weeks to figure that out. About as dumb as you can't charge while the unit is on.

After going nuts for two weeks I finally found that my issue was I had my "Squelch" set at way too high so it only will picked up strong signal in my area. Since I switch it to the 9 o'clock possible I can pick up everything in the San Diego County on the NextGen.

Thank you all for the responds and awesome information though!!!

Repeater control channel frequencies are wrong on the RR database. Try to do a search or tune and look for the repeater frequencies within your range.
This is what I found for NextGen within my range for Imperial County and already submitted to RR.

Control channels found
Site Frequency Name
054 853.4125 Calexico
047 853.9500 Ocotillo Wells
053 855.3625 Black Mountain
058 855.4125 Imperial County Sheriff Office
050 855.7375 Superstition Mountain
052 856.3875 Brawley
046 856.9125 Hendrix Peak with a N576 not the N570 like the others

Tune was done with a RS Pro 106

My situation is this: I found out that where I am located using the stock antennas on my SDS200's works best with the simulcast than using it with the ST2, antenna. I get all 4 areas easy peasey 3-4 bars

Just what I wanted to program...north, west , northeast, and east. I skipped south because I wasn't interested what was happening in that direction. Planning to put up the ST2 on craigslist soon

Can someone advise what TG 2415 is on SDRCS Next Gen.
Been hearing it a lot over the last hours, no unit IDs, running plates.
Was cross reference to Oceanside CHP Tac 2, but that can't be.
