Hello San Diego!

Quick question regarding SD Co. RCS programming. I noticed the blurb on the RR DB saying we need to program RCS as a Splinter system. Can I simply program the site frequencies (ie North) into a 396T straight from the RR list? I guess I'm simply looking to confirm that the list already has the frequencies I need and there is no adjusting needed on my part. Thanks!

I have not tried directly, but in FreeScan you should be able to import the system from RR and pick Mot 800MHz Splinter (Type II) from the drop down under Site Type.

RCS will go straight in as a splinter system with no adjustments. It is a simulcast system that works really well on my 396. You have to enter north and south zones as separate systems. You may be able to hear north and south at the same time depending on location. There is a lot of overlap sometimes. City of San Diego goes in just as easy and is heard over most of the county.

Edit: You can do CC only trunking on these systems. Don't put in all of the freqs. just the CCs.

Which Tower

I am visiting your city. I have the 396 programmed for the city and receiving perfectly. I have the county programmed and receiving p 25 traffic from system 470-001. I only have one bar signal strength. I am staying by the Convention Center. Which tower site should I program for stronger reception.
Thanks
Nate

Your best reception of the RCS from the Convention Ctr will be from the South Zone site.

The weather here is only 73 degrees warmer than it is back home today. Hope I don't miss my flight and not be able to go ice fishing this weekend!

trooperdude,

Here is the file I use for San Diego.

Bank 1 & 2 - San Diego City (PD/Fire)
Bank 3,4,5 - RCS South (Sheriff, Police, Fire)
Bank 6,7,8 - RCS North (Sheriff, Police, Fire)
Bank 9 - CHP
Bank 0 - Media

It's pretty basic but should have you covered for most stuff worth monitoring. I did not include the RCS East Zone since I rarely go out that direction.
