San Diego County TRS Question

I will be visiting Rancho Bernardo area. What's the best site to program for San Diego County TRS in that area?

For the RCS, the North Loop is appropriate for Rancho Bernardo. However, Rancho Bernardo is part of the City of San Diego, so the San Diego City system is what you will need to monitor for fire/EMS/PD traffic in that specific area.

I am going to San Diego tomorrow and I want to take my 396 and check things out while I am there. But it looks as if they are digital trunked. Where I live it's still all analog. I did try and program up the City of Glendale, I think I did it right, but I have not been down that way to check it out.

Freqof nature lists the SD freqs and talk groups for SD, but I am still new to digital trunking and don't see the base freq and/or the offset and step info that I saw for the City of Glendale, and it looks like there would be a lot to program for the SD area.

You don't need to worry about base/offset and step settings. San Diego TRS and RCS are 800 mhz systems, not UHF systems as the ICIS is.

I loaded the data from the RR Data base into my 396T---

I loaded in SD county north loop site, and it seems to work fine.

As for SD City Pub Safety, I haven't heard a peep. It doesn't see to have a control chanel. Suggestions?

Should it be? I haven't heard anything from PS either. I just have different groups under the San Diego Site.

The city system should be set up as splinter. The current control on it is 859.0250.

Yes, I did the splinter and PW started working too! That is one busy city. I heard more drug and gang busts in 3 days than I have in a month here.
I am going to have to join the premier club for all the really good info.
