## Tac 3 Talkgroups

These new talkgroups are beginning to show up, at least on the North Zone. 30944 was active today and ID'ed over the air as 30 Tac 3. Note that although others have indicated the Tac 3 talkgroups would be encrypted, what I heard was in the clear, so it looks like encryption is user selectable.

A few analog talkgroups popping up on the North Zone that I can't find in the database:

16848
16880
16944

These appear to be public works type of comms, possibly in Oceanside.

Also these, some with Cal Fire MVU traffic:

496
2096
11152
22256
29456

22256 I think is SDG&E because I heard them on another talkgroup of theirs and they were asked to switch to another and I heard them using that for helicopter work on something like pole construction it sounded like to me how they used to use the UHF freq 451.625 PL 136.5 for pole construction etc.

30752 I heard what sounded like a training fire dispatch call of window washers needing a rescue is what they used for it and heard Heartland aparatus mentioned this was on the south zone.

Amen.

We just call it "NextGen."

What is scary is that all of the SOCAL basin is either encrypted now or are in the process of locking down with the clamp.

I think we can all agree that that nexgen system will probably follow suit. Seeing SBDCO and PSEC going silent NEX-GEN will also follow suit

Please stick to the topic. We don't need any encryption rants. This thread has a specific purpose.

The new system will take advantage of the features in the P25 suite of standards (GPS location of subscribers, for example). It is a voice system only.

Body cams, external sensors, etc. would be though LTE and not on the system.

I think the GPS feature will be a life saver. I know LEOS might not like to be tracked, but sometimes your not able to radio in your location.

Our Fisher Con+ system at my work has GPS, and also the software is set to send email alerts to specific managers if the GPS reports over a specific MPH speed limit. :-D

So talked to a guy that says he works for the county radio shop and he told me that when the Nextgen is complete by 2019 he said most of all law enforcement will be encrypted and fire for the most part should stay analog, So will just have to wait and see what really happens with this

I will go ahead and validate that statement against "phase II Astro25 9600 analog"...

Don't know who your source is, but he doesn't have it correct (other than 2019). P25 by design cannot have analog talkgroups. Generally, talkgroups that are currently unencrypted will remain unencrypted at cutover.

Is "at cutover" caveat language...?
