Our town has 8 but we are so small vehicles can be out of town by the time the system processes the info and sends an alert.
I don't recall seeing any utility markings for those poles they put in, I wonder if they call 811.

There are areas north of Indy that have them on every highway on and off ramp. I’m out that way for an event every summer that sees me traveling around the Indy area (mostly between Marion and Indy, with a lot of time at LOS) and was a little shocked how prolific they are

There are areas north of Indy that have them on every highway on and off ramp.

I'd rather have those than the traffic signals regulating traffic at the bottom of the on ramp.
