Has anyone else noticed that the rcs south is holding onto the carrier for a long time after the units have stopped talking? Ii is causing the scanner to hang until the carrier is released.
Thanks
Bill
I've had this problem in the past in the Alpine area. Of course it had to be when I was traveling on the 8 and saw a pursuit go past me opposite direction. I couldn't really monitor it due to the hanging frequencies.
By the time I got to my destination and back in the car everything was back to normal. I don't know what causes it but would also be interested to know.
I live in Alpine and get it there as well as in El Cajon where I work. I am using the new Uniden but I have a live feed running with a bc245 and it also is haveing issues?
I've heard of some 396s hanging on the voice channel. It's definitely not a system issue. I had no trouble with my 396. I know there is an option under the system menu to allow or ignore the disconnect word. Have you been playing with that?
No I have not but will check it out. My bc245 that is running my live feed is doing the same thing. I think that it is an issue with one of the repeaters. when the 245 hangs oftern times it will stay there until the freq is reissued by the computer and it willl hen get a digital signal and we know what that sounds like on a 245. prior to the holiday all was well and I do not have any law enforcement in the 245 so I should not get any digital signals.
I just finished programming a full 4 banks in my 796D tonite, and when scanning RCS NORTH, my scanner would stop on a couple of talkgroups, Carlsbad PD, San Marcos Sheriff, Oceanside PD....blah blah, but it would hang on an analog carrier until a P25 transmission came along. Sometimes during the carrier, I would hear echo laden dispatchers saying something meaningless, like public works. I looked at my programming, and had I-CALL enabled. I disabled I-CALL and the problem is now gone.
I don't believe I was picking up I-CALL transmissions, but for some reason that setting dealt with my problem. One good thing about hanging on an analog carrier is I could tell it was a transmission and not just stopped on the TG for no reason, could hear the warble and adjusting the scanner antenna affected the reception.

It often IS a system issue (one channel at one site in the simulcast cell hanging). It would be nice if whoever notices it also posts which RF frequency along with where they are.
I'll ask the shop to look at the eastern South Cell sites tomorrow.
