Interesting that this just got published. The team has been working with the Fire Mutual Aid zones for months now.
The project is addressing VHF infrastructure requirements for all-hazard local / state / federal incident communications.

When I was a reserve deputy in Santee in the late 70s we still had low band portables, I remember laughing when the FTO handed me the radio and showed me how to extend the antenna. Last time I had done that was with our CB walkie talkies when we roamed the canyons in south Clairemont as kids in the 60s.
I think Poway was on UHF by then.

Weren't they 453.5000? Car-to-Car was like 453.72500 and Admin was 453.4000 or something close with 453.7500 and 453.9500 being used in the North County? My memory is fuzzy

453.100 I lived in Santee at the time. Also when I started getting into scanning around 1992.
