I'll be camping at San Elijo in a few weeks. On my previous trip, I never heard beach/campground traffic on the 800Mhz State Park/DPR channels. Of course, as I was driving out on my last day, I saw a LEO and a park staffer and both had an 800Mhz radio AND an XTS1500 VHF radio. the LEO had his VHF clipped on his vest, like it was temporary while in that campground/beach.

Does anyone know what the VHF frequency is that is used within the campground/beach proper? Thanks in advance!

They have a couple of channels for LE and lifeguarding...they went rebanded a couple of years back so check that you have the right freqs. The Aqua is the primary, and even is used for state parks units running around Old Town or wherever they are called out to. The VHFs get use for at least marine channels such as 16 and to comm with coast guard for pangas and such on 22A.
