How is the EMS response set up in San Francisco now? I have been hearing "King" units on the audio feed which I assume is King American. Are they providing some 911 response now? I thought they were primarily providing private calls for transports etc. Does "The City" still provide emergency ambulance service through SFFD or the Public Health Service? Where does AMR fit in?

Thanks

Joe

SFFD still has ALS medic ambulances. As fair as I know both King American and AMR still serve San Francisco.

SFFD still runs all the ambulances but King and AMR do take some of the calls and are on the SFFD radio. You will hear them get posted just like the SFFD Medics. If it is slow which is not too much they will go off the system to do transfers.

SFFD runs their own ALS units, AMR posts 4 units in The City who are on C MED and are on the 911 board and I believe King has 2 911 cars, but Ill have to ask and confirm that for you.

They only have an HT on C MED, the mobiles are company radios.

All of the medics are Firefighter Paramedics these days, they ran a few academies for the city Paramedics to cross train. Anthony Valerio was in one of those academies FWIW.
