On the San Gabriel Sub radio channel I am hearing a radio transmission" FCAX railroad defect detector mile post 39. " . Where is that sector located?

Are you sure it's not SCAX? MP 39 would be close to Vineyard if my foggy memory is working. About halfway between Upland and Rancho Cucamonga stations

There's a MP 38.4 on LA sub named "Bon View"

It would be SCAX aka Metrolink and that is the defect detector where marcotor says. It reads out if there are any issues, hot boxes; dragging equipment; etc., with the train passing over it.

That is probably it, as I hear it well out in the Inland Empire and south to Moreno Valley. Also can hear it in the San Gabriel Valley. And it broadcasts every train that passes thru, and says "no defects".
