San Onofre SONGS System

Does anybody know if the SONGS system is still up and running? I know they are in the process of dismantling operations. Tried it on the scanner a few months ago and didn't hear anything. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

I see no reason why it shouldn't be. You do have to be right on top of the plant to hear anything, and most of the system has special antenna configurations.

I installed a bunch of UHF MotoTRBO stuff there years ago.

Is there anything special programming wise? I was right next to it when I tried and got nothing.

Make sure you had the correct frequencies in your scanner.

Just program it as Mot 800 MHz Standard (Type II)

The system been busy with radio traffic all this week.
Most active talkgroup this week 27216.
Other talkgroups active this week was 20976, 21136 and 21232.

I'd expect it to still be in use for security, but very light use generally.
