I took my BC 296D to the sandbridge beach area this weekend, and heard no radio traffic other then from the VA trunk system. Is Sandbridge using the VABeach trunk system and if so, any specific ids for the police, fire, ems. Also, any freq for the life guards or are they on trunk also.

I did here some rest room maintenance radio talk on one of the murs channels ( south public park area).

Any additional freq for the area would be great.

Sandbridge is part of the City of Virginia Beach. All public safety radio traffic for that area is on the main VB system. They are considered to be in the regular city limits, therefore there is no special talkgroups set aside for just that area.

Adding specific info:
Sandbridge/Sandbridge Beach is in the 1st precinct for Police, the precinct is located at the Public Safety Bldg at the Princess Anne Courthouse in
the center of Virginia Beach. There is a VBPD substation on Princess Anne Rd in the Creeds area of Virginia Beach, next to Creeds Elementary, on the way to NC.

Fire/rescue coverage is Sandbridge (Station/Rescue 17), located at the corner of Sandbridge Rd & Sandfiddler Rd. You probably saw the station just as you came into Sandbridge. Secondary responders for fire/rescue come from Stations 5 (Princess Anne Courthouse), 6 (Creeds), 13 (Blackwater [the nost remote part of Va Beach]), 12 (Seatack) and 15 (Knotts Island Va Beach VA/ Currituck County NC).

The City of Virginia Beach includes everything from the ocean to the east and Norfolk/Chesapeake to the west; from the bay to the north to the NC line to the south. The southern half of the city is still very rural. Still much farming going on there.

Larry, next time you come down to the beach, make sure you reset your radio to"Type-II" as all VA Beach units are now using it.
